Seeds

Sunflower Haiku for Thusday October 23, 2014

My flowers this year
remained tightly closed, did not
grow, not a lone stem.

It was my own fault,
neglected, did not water,
ignored, forgotten.

How often in my personal life do I do this with seeds of potential growth? I start something & jump to the next project, leaving the first unfinished. ‘I’ll finish that later’ I tell myself. I suspect it will not get done. It’s a defect I plan to correct.  I’ll get my desk calender uncovered today so I can mark progress. That is something I have found encouraging in the past. I’ll repeat successful steps, & omit unsuccessful ones. If I’ve done it before, I can do it again.

I don’t need to keep digging up the new growth seed to see what’s happening.  Seeds need darkness, warmth, refreshing water. So do I. So today instead of pushing myself into doing something I don’t want to do, I’ll rest, relax & nurture myself.

A universe in a single drop.

A universe in a single drop.
